It's said that on a clear day, the furthest a person can see is 26 miles due to the curvature of the earth. But as we move forward, the horizon and landscape changes because we've moving beyond the original 26 miles we could see.
The same is true in our lives. I sincerely believe that we are all constantly evolving. We have an idea, set a goal, work to develop the skillsets to achieve that goal, and implement. We move closer and closer to making our goals our reality.
But what happens when we get close to achieving the goals only to find that the "landscape" has changed and it no longer fits our dreams or lifestyle?
Do we stay "stuck" because we worked so hard to get there? Do we stay "stuck" even though we no longer feel inspired and energized? Do we stay "stuck" and go through the motions, wondering if this is all there is?
Yes, some people do that. But I'm not one of them. I've given myself permission to "evolve". I appreciate and am grateful for all I've learned, all the amazing people I've had the opportunity to meet and grow with, and who I have become in the process.
My past experiences are a part of who I am but don't define or limit my potential.
My goal for the past couple of decades has been: Make a positive difference in the life of someone everyday.
And everyday, I do. It is a conscious thought that feeds my soul and drives me to bring a smile, hope, a laugh, or help to someone else without expecting anything in return.
As much success as I've had in the past as a speaker and coach for people who want to speak, I'm comfortable making tweaks or changes as the landscape of opportunities and who I am becoming happen. Life is an adventure and I refuse to sit on the sidelines!
So, where I am going with all this? Throughout all the coaching and speaking I've done, there is a common theme: Lack of self-confidence is holding people back from stepping into their potential and making the difference that only they can make... It makes me sad to see it.
My focus will be shifting to motivate, inspire, love, and lead all these wonderful people I've met and those that I will get to meet. I will be kicking up my daily mantra of "make a positive difference in the life of someone everyday" in a bigger, bolder way.
I believe that if I can be an influencer of good, hope, inspiration, and love, these same traits will begin to manifest themselves in others. And they will become influencers and leaders in their own way.
I believe that together, we can impact our families, neighborhoods, communities, and world. People are hungry for news that is good, uplifting, and shows us that there is more good in the world than we realize - it's just never in the news.
And each one of us can be the leader who makes a positive impact.
Are you with me? Good! It's time we made this happen!
