I used to struggle with all the bits and pieces I wanted to keep and retrieve for later use. I would file them away in a place I was sure to remember, but then when I wanted to review or use it, I couldn't remember where that special spot was? Sound familiar?
Here's a simple strategy I came up with that made my life much easier: Use color files to organize my stuff!
This is what I did - I went to the office supply store and picked up a set of 12-file folders that came in 4 different colors (3 folders in each color).
Red: Family stuff (the apple of my eye)
Green: Business and money stuff
Blue: Knowledge, education, books I want to read, favorite quotes
Yellow: Inspiration, dreams, goal sheet, and cards/letters I'd received from people that made me feel good
Each folder was labeled and I grouped them by color in a drawer that was easily accessible so I would actually use the system. Each time I came across an idea or piece of paper that I wanted to keep for later use, I tossed it in the appropriate file. It was very easy to find when I wanted it!
This simple system allowed me to build better organization habits, easily find what I needed in just a few seconds, and my desk was kept clear of all those special "piles" I had accumulated on my desk but had no idea what was in each of them!
The perfect organizational system is the one that you will actually use consistently. This color coding file system helped me and my family and maybe it could work for you, too!
