The topic this morning was about how people live their lives and run their businesses. I mentioned that in my humble opinion, many people buy "toys" so they can escape their Monday-through-Friday life. They buy these toys, even if they can't afford them because they are desperate for something to look forward to. Have you settled for what life has handed you? Or are your stretching and reaching for the life you want, dream of, and deserve?
If you dread Monday mornings because you have to go back to work or if you want to pull the blankets over your head, turn off the alarm or call in sick to work regularly, then your life is on auto-pilot. You've settled. How is that working for you?
Imagine a life where you jump out of bed, excited to start the day BEFORE the alarm even goes off! Imagine spending your days being actively engaged in activities that fulfill your dreams, values, vision, and passion while making a positive difference in the world... How would that kind of life work for you? Your family?
Achieving the life of your dreams requires deliberate thought and action. What are your talents? What do you want to achieve? How do you want to make a difference? What would your day look like? Your week? Month? Year? The rest of your life?
Bob Burg's book, "It's Not About You" offers great advice: "People who achieve great things that the world will never forget, start out by accomplishing small things that the world will never see."
What small steps can you work on every day? Be deliberate in scheduling at least 15 minutes a day to devote to a new life. Write down what you need to do. Break them down into small, manageable tasks. Be consistent. Be persistent. Journal what you do, how long you spent, how you felt, etc. At the end of 30-days, read back through your writings. You'll be astonished at how far you've come and how much you've accomplished with these small, seemingly insignficant activities.
Deliberate or Auto-Pilot... How do you want to live your life or build your business? It really is your choice.
