There are four ways you can do this:
- Invite someone to write a post for your blog Who do you follow that has a message that would resonate with your readers? Invite that person to write a blog post for you. Share the topic or subject you would like the writer to focus on and what angle, if any, to approach it. When you post the blog, give the author credit and include a link to their blog. Ask the writer to mention it on their blog and include a reciprocal link as well as both of you sharing the post on social media.
- Offer to write a post for someone else's blog Who do you follow that has a message that would resonate with your readers? Contact that person (or people) and ask if you can write a post for their blog. Ask what topic or subject they would like covered and what angle, if any, you should approach it from. Clarify that you will be named as the author and a link to your blog will be included when they post the article. Naturally, you'll reciprocate with a link from your blog to theirs and both of you will share the post on social media.
- Repost articles your subscribers would find of interest or of value There is so much great information being shared out there and these writers can say it so much better than I could! Rather than reinvent the wheel, copy their post into your blog. Be sure to give credit to the author and a link back to the original blog post. This is a great method to use a "big" name to attract more readers to you blog. It's also a wonderful time-saver! If you give the author credit and include their link, it's ok to repost unless they have a disclaimer stating that prior permission is required. (They want to make sure they get the credit, etc) I always send a courtesy message to the author to let them know I'm reposting, that they are listed as the author, I've included a link back to them, and I include a link to my blog in this message so they can double-check if they want to. Every time I've done this I've gotten a nice "thank you". No complaints.
- Offer your blog posts for reposting to your referral partners Referral partners are people who share the same target market as you do but for a noncompeting product or service. This is a great way to expand your readership to a market that probably uses or will be using what you offer. Set the guidelines that when the person resposts your article, you are included as the author, there is a link to your blog, and the person agrees to share it via social media.
Choosing just one of these methods each week can significantly increase your exposure over time. And it will give you great material for future blog posts that take well under 15 minutes!
If you would like to repost any articles from my blog, simply follow the guidelines above. Let me know which one you choose and when it will be posted. I'll be happy to promote your blog on my social media channels to help both of us attract more readers.
