My husband, Chuck, works really hard. There's the milking, calf chores, feeding, and this time of year, field work. He's out the door around 5 am and comes back in around 8 pm. The only thing he wants to do is eat dinner and relax in his chair while he falls asleep in front of the TV.
I am in Tampa for a BNI National Directors Conference. Before leaving home, I made sure that he had some favorite meals in the fridge, ready to be reheated in the microwave. Plus I made sure that he had bread, sandwich meat, cookies, sports drinks, energy bars, etc.
Here are the meals I made for him:
1. Tuna Noodle Casserole (In MN we call it a "hotdish" - haha)
2. BBQ Mini Meat Loaves
3. Bacon and Cheese Quiche
The hour I spent on preparing these meals means so much to him. And I don't feel guilty when I'm out traipsing around the country because I know he's got food that's ready to reheat and eat!
Spend 15 minutes today and go through your favorite recipes. What can be made ahead of time and stored in the freezer? This meal can be for your family during crazy times or it can be a blessing in someone else's life if you share it... Add the ingredients to your list. Sometimes all you need to do is double a couple of recipes you are already making - it's so easy! And when you get a chance to do something fun that takes you away from your family at mealtime, you can do so without guilt because you are prepared!
One problem. One solution. 15 minutes. Done.
