One of the "secrets" of highly successful coaches, consultants, and speakers is to repurpose their content.
One piece of content can be distributed as:
- Blog post
- Video (posting on website and Youtube)
- Image (meme) for Instagram
- Podcast or video file
- Article posted to other blogs and news channels (with permission)
- A message in your autoresponder - add as part of a campaign or a broadcast
When I suggest this to my clients, they often balk because they feel they are sending too much of the same message to people. However, when done correctly, you will actually attract more eyes because of the variety of methods you are using to share it.
Think for a minute about people you follow - do you see every single post they publish? And when you do see them, do you always click on it to read/watch/listen? Of course not! And neither does anyone else!
Spreading your content in different ways allows you to cross-channel your message and attract more eyes. People like to absorb information in different ways. Repurposing allows you to reach those who prefer a style different than your "usual and customary" method. In other words, if you always deliver video, you are missing those who don't like video and would prefer to read. If you always write out your post, those who prefer video or podcasts won't even notice what you are doing.
They say that "variety is the spice of life". This works in content delivery, too!
