That's what happened to me this weekend.
I've been pouring over my marketing plan and sales/marketing funnel. Something was off but I could quite figure it out. Then it dawned on me - my products and ideal customers didn't match up!
You see, most business courses teach you to identify your target market. Great! And they teach you to create new content or repurpose content you already have. Great! But what I missed was making sure that every single piece of content was focused on solving the problems of my specific market! For heaven sake, I teach this stuff! How could I have missed this one "little" piece in my own business when it's so dang clear when I'm helping someone else? UGH!
Today I'd like to encourage you to take 15 minutes out of a couple of days this week and take a good, long, hard look at your business marketing plan. Does your content and message relate to your ideal clients or customers? Or are you trying to be a large discount store and serve everyone (which means truly serving no one)?
If you'd like some great reading on how to really take your marketing skills and results up a few levels, I highly recommend, "The Attraction Marketer's Manifesto" . It has made a huge difference in my business since I started applying the principles contained within it and I believe it can help you, too. It's great information and it's FREE!
Now, keep in mind that it's written with the mlm business model in mind... but don't let that stop you from downloading it. I'm not in mlm but the ideas, strategies, and tips outlined in this book are great for any type of business - mlm, direct sales, and even brick-and mortar traditional businesses.
It will be fun to hear what "brain smacks" you get after reading through the book - my guess is you'll have a few before you are even half way through!
Let me know what you think, what you change, and why. I'd love to learn from you!
