There are 2 ways we can look at your "zone of genius". One way is focusing on the natural gifts and talents you have. The other focuses on your "magic" time - the time of day when you are most creative and productive. Today I want to talk a little about the second one - time of day.
We all know the importance of a to-do list, but do you synchronize your activities to the best time of day for you to do these activities? "Plan your work and work your plan".
Using your tablet, smartphone, or notebook, break your days into 15-minute increments. I like to use my iPad so I can set up alerts every 15 minutes or I get distracted and lose time!
If your workday starts at 8 a.m, set up times like this:
And so on.
At the end of each 15-minute time frame, write down what you spent your time doing and your energy or concentration level on the calendar during that time. Repeat throughout the next 3-4 days.
You’ll quickly identify your "Zone of Genius" - the time of day when you simply think and work the best.
This method will help you identify activities, habits, or people that drain your time and energy as well as when you are most productive.
Once you know when you are most creative and productive, those are the times you will schedule the tasks that need your full attention. Emails, returning phone calls, and meetings can be scheduled for other times that are outside of your "zone of genius".
Are you thinking, "Sue, you are crazy! I don't have time to do this!!!!!!!" But the big questions is this... If you don't do this, will your business and time effectiveness change? Three days is going to go by anyway. You can either be in the same place or you can be on your way to greater results and the business you dream of. It's your choice.
Let me know what you discover about yourself - we can learn so much from each other! Would you please share this on your social channels so we can hear what others think, too?
